Seasonal timing

Around 48 freezing nights a year and a first frost near November 12 mean drain work rarely stops for weather, so a failing stack tends to get found in winter rather than waited out.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

How long does a cast iron stack last?

Fifty to eighty years is the usual range, and the bottom of the stack goes first because that's where waste sits longest. Age alone doesn't force a replacement; a camera pass showing wall loss or a split hub does.

Can one section be replaced instead of the whole stack?

Frequently, yes. A plumber cuts out the failed run and ties PVC back into sound iron with proper couplings, which is a smaller job than opening every wall from the attic down.

Will homeowners insurance pay for a collapsed drain line?

It depends on the policy and on what caused the failure, and the answer varies a lot between carriers. Contact your insurance provider before any work starts so the claim and the repair line up.

Why does the downstairs bath smell when the upstairs one runs?

A dry or blocked trap is the first suspect and a partly closed vent is the second. Sewer gas moving between fixtures on a stack this old is worth an inspection rather than an air freshener.

Do plumbers here cover the outlying addresses?

They do. The same route that serves this town runs out toward Hokes Bluff and Heflin, so an address a few miles off the main road is a normal stop.
