About 52 freeze nights a year is enough sustained cold that a supply line running past an open crawlspace vent will sit near freezing for hours at a stretch on a still night.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Is galvanized pipe unsafe or just old?

The practical problem is corrosion: the inside narrows with rust, flow drops and the pipe eventually leaks. Older galvanized systems were also often joined with lead solder elsewhere in the house, which is a separate question worth testing rather than guessing about.

How long does a partial repipe usually take?

It depends on access more than on footage. A crawlspace with room to work goes quickly; running new line inside finished walls takes far longer. A plumber who has been under the house can give a real answer, which is why the look comes first.

What is the risk of leaving one old run in place?

It becomes the weak link, and it will be the next thing to leak. That's fine if it's accessible and cheap to reach later. It's a poor bet if it runs under a finished floor.

Should a water heater sit directly on a crawlspace floor?

No. It wants a solid, level base and a pan with a drain where a leak can go somewhere harmless. Heaters sitting on dirt or on blocks in older houses around Moulton are a common find, and they rust from the bottom.
